Groot Constantia Photowalk

Combine your love for photography and appreciation of excellent wines with our Groot Constantia Photowalk!

Founded by Simon van der Stel in 1685 this estate offers countless photo-moments as we tour from the vineyards stretching across the slopes of the estate, to the time-honoured cellars where magical moody scenes of raw and filled oak-barrels can be captured.

From here, come and taste the wonderful wines currently produced at Groot Constantia, and learn to set up a lifestyle shoot of the bottles and poured glasses.

We’ll end this day off with heading off to the delightful Simon’s Deli for lunch, where a sumptuous Harvest Platter awaits. Before helping ourselves to all the yummyness, we’ll photograph this wonderful creation too!

Course Outcomes:

  • Scenic photography on one of Cape Town’s oldest wine estates
  • Learn to shoot in low light in a wine cellar
  • Lifestyle shots of bottles, wine tasting and rustic food photography
  • Wine tasting is included

Groot Constantia’s revered history tells us how a man’s love of wine established the first wine farm in South Africa. By going back 330 years, we come to understand how 891 morgen of land created the origins of the South African wine industry, and how every owner thereafter contributed to what we know as Groot Constantia today.

We aim to be a world class international destination, capturing the rich and diverse heritage of South Africa, in order to deliver a unique cultural, social and historical experience, to locals and tourists alike, through the offering of world class, quality wines and sensory encounters.
