We are pleased to announce that Young in Prison South Africa (YiPSA) will be hosting its inaugural YiPSA Photo Exhibition & Auction at the Orms Cape Town School of Photography, which will boast a selection of work by both established and emerging South African photographers and artists. This event will be the first of its kind by an NGO in South Africa, and aims to be established as a not-to-be-missed event on Cape Town’s annual social calendar. It will be a unique opportunity to purchase work from esteemed photographers such as Guy Tillim, Sue Williamson, Gary Van Wyk, Mikhael Subotsky, Omar Badsha, Cedric Nunn, Obie Oberholzer, Eric Miller, Paul Weinberg, and many more. A number of up and coming young photographers have also added their work to the exciting line-up.

This impressive collection of work makes for a variety of genres and types of photography that will appeal to a varied audience. The complete photo gallery can be viewed below.

Buyers who are unable to attend the live auction on 17 November can participate by telephone bidding and commission bidding through completing an absentee ahead of the event night. The auction catalogue and bidding forms can be downloaded soon. Catalogues and bidding forms can also be requested by sending an email to photoauction@younginprison.org.za.

The funds raised through this inaugural event will go towards sustaining YiPSA’s programmes in 2017.
