A quick Interview with Iona
Which medium do you prefer: Analogue (film) or Digital photography and why?
I prefer shooting on analogue whenever I can. It offers so many creative options such as true double exposure, grain and the authenticity of working with something physical.
What subject matter do you find yourself drawn to?
I enjoy taking pictures of both people and nature.
Pick three words/phrases that describe your approach to the medium?
Artistic, calm, organised
Why did you choose to study photography?
I love taking pictures. I recently decided that I want to make photography my career, and so I wanted to study to upskill myself.
What is the most valuable thing you have learnt on the course?
The most valuable thing I have learnt here at Orms CTSP ( other than learning how to make optimal use of my camera and editing software ) is time management and organisational skills. It was an intense course, and the only way to keep on top of things was to become very organised.
What advice would you give to anyone seriously considering applying for the course?
Do it! I have learnt so much this year and can see such a distinct difference in the way I take images and the quality of the photography I am now able to produce. Just start knowing that it is very fast-paced and will take up all of your time and mental energy for the year!
